About Me, Kathy Boyd, LCSW
Kathy Boyd, LCSW
I believe that it is in the living of life, experiencing loss, challenge, failure and especially pain that real growth can happen.
My life has known its own adversity, including the sudden death of my only child. I have experienced more pain that I ever thought possible to survive. It is excruciatingly clear to me how vulnerable we all are at any moment in this journey of life. Each day I strive to lean into what is difficult to make space for what is possible. I would ask the same of those I work with. My goal is to support you reaching yours.
With more than 14 years of clinical experience serving youth, adults and families, I have been privileged to witness amazing transformations with those who had given up hope in themselves and others. It is truly my pleasure to see each person for who they “are” versus who they are “not”, walking beside them no matter how difficult the circumstance. I believe we are so much more than where we find ourselves at this one moment.
Education
After attending SMU in Dallas, I worked in business for more than 20 years. Life, loss and all I held as predictable fell apart and was forced to rethink my life’s path. I finally gave myself permission to pursue my lifelong passion of becoming a therapist, enrolling in the University of Kansas where I earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work. I never looked back. This has been the fulfilling life choice I always imagined it would be. I have practiced since 2004 in the Kansas City, Lawrence and Topeka, Kansas area until late 2017 when I relocated to Austin to be near family.
